Harris’s Rest Cafe, Goldhawk Road, gawd knows how many years it’s been there, I’ve eaten there but is so cheap for hot English grub, appears to be a mecca for all the local lonely old men where they get their one cooked meal of the day. Cheap, and so many to choose from, like liver and bacon! SteveÌý

Wholemeal Cafe, Streatham - vegetarian restaurant with HUGE portions for around a fiver. Caroline in Streatham

Indian veg in chapel market. Best all you can eat ever. All vegetarian, lovely people. Bit 'full on' on the benefits of vegetarianism though. NikkiÌý

Guys there is a great Chinese buffet place in Park Royal great menu open all day. Also Sakonis veg indian place, Ealing Road, Wembley

Morning jo and paul. In deepest south london, {the lanes in Brighton actually jo )there is an Italian place called Pinocchios. 3 PROPER courses for 8.95. I.E. Stuffed mushrooms, a full size pizza and a big wodge of tiramisu. In town, the Thai place in lower marsh takes some beating. Harold

Cafe Mambo on Fulham road. A latin resturant, popular with the locals. you can get a set lunch for under a fiver, I've had corn chowder soup, pork belly with rice, salad and plantin finihed with a glass of homemade lemonade.

Madisons Restaurant within the Washington Hotel does a 3 course meal for £9.99 for either lunch or dinner. Located in Curzon Street Mayfair this is fancy dining on a budget.Lovely food and great service.

The Stockpot on the Kings Rd is fantastic value. Good portions of hearty food at reasonable prices.

2 Places for you Maggie's in Lewisham huge breakfasts for £4.50 (up to 20 items) large portions of all dishes and really friendly staff. In Islington Mem and Laz, you can have a 3 course meal for £7 the food is fantastic and the portions are huge! Both offer great value for money tasty food and excellent customer service.

5 minutes from Tower Bridge (south) is the "Cat & Cucumber", excellent 'greasy spoon' cafe, next to the railway line on Tower Bridge Road.

The Viking Cafe, Carr StreetEast London (just off Salmon Lane). REAL home made food and tradition fry ups but not greasy. Very clean and friendly as well!

RRed (yes, tow Rs) in the Strand. You get a large latte for a pound, large tea for 60p and(my favourite) egg and bacon in a big bap for £2.40. Friendly staff and great value!

Tuk Tuk Thai restaurant on Old Compton Street in Soho. Very cheap and very good! I go there all the time!

Wok-Inn in Camden High Street. All you can eat chinese buffet under a fiver. Sizzling China in Eversholt Street, take away box meal big portion for £3.50.
