Calendar Boys

You've probably heard of the "Calendar Girls"- well now Dagenham and Redbridge football club has its own Calendar Boys!

Players from the team have agreed to bare all in a special calendar to try and raise awareness about testicular cancer.

It's being launched during testicular cancer week, which runs from 1- 7th of April.

The hope is that it will help encourage men – and their partners- to check for the disease regularly.

The man behind the idea is Tim Baggs, who is marketing manager of Dagenham charity DABD.

He wants to raise £75,000 at least for cancer charities in the capital.

Club Captain Anwar Uddin explained why they agreed to get involved:

Ìý“At first some players were a little unsure of taking part, but after discussing it and realising that men rarely check themselves for testicular cancer we thought it was a great idea and an ideal way to promote awareness."

It's thought testicular cancer affects around 2 thousand men in the UK every year.

The A3 21-month calendar, running right through to December 2009, costs £7.50. To order your copy visit www.dabd.org.ukÌý
