About This Event
Join Chief Conductor Anna Maria-Helsing, presenter Katie Derham and the Â鶹Éç Concert Orchestra as they spring into summer with an evening of music inspired by the brightest time of year.
Grieg dreams of sunlit days, Delius hears his first cuckoo; William Alwyn has a flutter at the races and Johann Strauss waltzes through a verdant Vienna. Soprano Ilona Domnich brings her own touch of magic, and Alasdair Malloy – Â鶹Éç Concert Orchestra’s Principal Percussionist – sprinkles it all with the unmistakable sound of the glass harmonica: a musical marvel with a sound like pure enchantment.
It’s all about freshness, and all about fun – and because Friday Night is Music Night, it’s all about melodies, too. With additional music by Rachmaninov and Lionel Monckton (the toast of the Edwardian West End), you’ll be humming these all season. Presented by Â鶹Éç Radio 3’s Katie Derham.
