Drenge
Drenge
Fri 27 Jun 2014 John Peel Stage
Brothers do have 'em

Named after the Danish word for ‘boys’, Drenge are a post-grunge garage punk two-piece from rural Derbyshire made up of brothers Eoin (guitar / vocals) and Rory Loveless (drums).

Listing Antisocial Behaviour Orders, England vs. Argentina 1998 and burritos amongst their influences, the raw, infectious energy that Drenge captured in 2013’s self-titled debut album is a sight to behold live on stage.

Their single Bloodsports was included in Zane Lowe’s top 100 hottest records of 2013 and they famously count Tom Watson amongst their growing legion of fans, after the former Labour MP name-checked the band in the “coolest resignation letter in history”.

Building on a rip-roaring set at the 鶹 6 Music Festival in February, the siblings have graduated from last year’s debut Glastonbury performance on the William’s Green stage, to the prestigious John Peel Stage on Friday afternoon.

If you like your music visceral, angry and a bit dirty then look no further.
