Tonight鈥檚 programme evokes the soundworld of Central Europe with works by Jan谩膷ek, Smetana, Szymanowski and a UK premiere by Peter E枚tv枚s, all conducted by Edward Gardner.
The centerpiece of the concert is Polish composer Szymanowski鈥檚 joyous Second Violin Concerto with the charismatic Tasmin Little as the soloist. Jan谩膷ek鈥檚 powerful Jealousy and Taras Bulba suite frame two of Smetana鈥檚 most popular tone-poems and the first UK performance of composer Peter E枚tv枚s鈥檚 2012 work, inspired by the stillness of an eagle in flight.
