Laura Mvula (née Douglas) is an English soul singer-songwriter from Birmingham. Signed to Sony subsidiary RCA, Mvula released her debut extended play, She, on November 16, 2012. It is set to be succeeded by a debut studio album, entitled Sing to the Moon, scheduled for release on March 4, 2013.
It was announced on 6 December 2012 that Mvula had been shortlisted for the 2013 BRIT Award of Critics' Choice. Then, on 9 December the Â鶹Éç announced that the singer had also been nominated for the Sound of 2013 poll; to which she finished in fourth position.
