An enduring talent of Irish Music

Phil Coulter is an enduring talent of Irish music. In 1967 he won the Eurovision Song Contest as co-writer of Sandie Shaw’s Puppet On A String; his partnership with Bill Martin bore fruit a second time with Congratulations in 1968 with Cliff Richard.

Over the next few years Phil notched up hits with performers ranging from Elvis Presley to Waylon Jennings and Cilla Black to the Bay City Rollers. In 2010 he was honoured for his Lifetime Achievement in the music industry by his peers in the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors.

In the past six months he has wowed theatre critics with an off-Broadway run of his one-man show, completed a sold out national tour, filmed a major US TV special, and written a specially commissioned anthem for Derry’s year as City Of Culture.
