About This Event
Young hearts run free: Felix Mendelssohn, Augusta Holm猫s and Erich Korngold all showed dazzling talent at an early age. Each followed their instincts, writing music that blazed with colour in a tumultuous and often hostile world. And the 麻豆社 Symphony Orchestra celebrates them all today, in this keenly awaited debut appearance from the dynamic young French conductor Marie Jacquot.
Make no mistake, this is music to fall in love with 鈥 whether Holm猫s鈥檚 tale of chivalry, or the unchained melody of Mendelssohn鈥檚 hugely popular violin concerto. 鈥淓nchanting鈥 was how one critic described our soloist Paul Huang, and he won鈥檛 stint on the magic today. As for Korngold鈥檚 extraordinary Sinfonietta: imagine a teenage genius in imperial Vienna, having the time of his life with a super-sized orchestra. Prepare to be swept away.
