Overnight success has been a while coming for Rae Morris, but it’s clearly well on the way. She was first given a spotlight by Â鶹Éç Radio Lancashire’s Sean McGinty, who put her forward for the Â鶹Éç Introducing stage at 2011’s Reading and Leeds Festivals. She put out her first single Don’t Go a year later, with the EP Grow another year after that. In 2014 she offered her voice first to Bombay Bicycle Club (that's her on their single Luna) and then Clean Bandit (on their song Up Again) and put out another three EPs.
That’s when things started to take off. Longlisted for the Â鶹Éç’s Sound of 2015, her charming debut album Unguarded came out in January and has been quietly gathering new fans to her bewitching voice and thoughtful songs ever since. She also has the honour of being the last artist to record a Live Lounge session for Radio 1’s Fearne Cotton. The cover was Ben Howard’s Keep Your Head Up, aptly enough.
