But Sherwell鈥檚 sound is much more forward-thinking and broader, combining soft washes of electronica like James Blake or SBTRKT, with the sense of adventure of artists like Imogen Heap and Bat For Lashes.
Bat For Lashes collaborator David Kosten produced Sherwell鈥檚 debut EP, Love Somebody, the title track from which became a firm favourite of Lauren Laverne鈥檚 on 6 Music show last year. With wondrous follow-up single, Islander - played by 麻豆社 DJs across the country and included on a Tom Robinson Fresh on the Net mixtape - Sherwell looked back to her upbringing in Guernsey. More recently, she released Pale Lung, which you may have heard of Huw Stephens鈥檚 show in May. A full, Kosten-produced album is due post-Glastonbury and couldn鈥檛 be better timed - Sherwell鈥檚 dreamy, emotional music is just what鈥檚 needed in these austere times.
