I have hit 2 brickwalls on my Lidiard family.
Alfred Lidiard christened 22 mar 1822 Bathwick Somerset, married Ann Walton on 10 jul 1846. They had a daughter Edith born about 1848 in Lanelly Wales but on the 1851 Census Ann is a Widow living in Huddersfield.
Can anyone find the registration of the death of Alfred and Birth of Edith. I have looked on fmp and Ance++y with no luck.
I would be very grateful for any ideas from the "experts" on how to find them.

Many thanks also to Harrywrag for the extra information and details. Lovely!
Where did you find this, and what month was the "18th inst" of Ann Waltons death?
Yes as Jan says Ann did run a school for quite a time.

Thank you Mabel and Bashfuljan I did knpow about Ediths marriage and children and I thought I had posted a message on this but it looks as thogh it got lost in the system!
I did not however have son Henry and his career so that is good info.
What I am really interested in are Alfred's Lidiard relations who would be alive 1850 to 1880 time particularly an Anne, a Maria and an Elizabeth. They could be connected to William Lidiard born about 1816 on 1841 census but I still cannot find anything about him after 1841.
Does anyone have any more ideas on this. They should be in the Somerset area not connected to the Berkshire family.
    All suggestions gratefully received.

Thanks Harrywrag, that is another useful bit of information. It looks as though she already had a school before she moved to Huddersfield then.
Bishenbertie thanks for the other families. I dont think the Hampshire family is mine, but the Peter Lidiard one looks interesting but I would need to tie Peter to Alfred somehow.

    < Elizabeth M Buckley 25 >

    Is a niece, b Llanelly

Following her back she is from the Buckley's brewing firm which is still going. Her father is b Gloucester and mother from Llanelly, daughter of Joshua Wodge a landed proprietor from St Ives Cornwall

Elizabeth Wilson may or may not be related to the Lidiards, but the interconnections are fascinating

Yes Mabel, The Wilsons are Ediths in-laws and Thomas James is the son of Henrietta James nee Lidiard Alfred's sister. So that is correct but unfortunately doesn't find me an Elizabeth with surname Lidiard in the 1860's.

If it's Alfred's sister you are looking for, what are the chances she is still a Lidiard? There's an Elizabeth Lidiard marrying in Bath in 1850 - choice of four spouses

    Buckley John Mark
    Lye Henry
    Redmant William
    Reynolds John

    Mabel

A Buckley / Lidiard marriage would tie in with the niece Elizabeth Buckley from your previous posts

OK - so I think Elizabeth Lidiard did indeed marry John Buckley, with Llanelli connections

From the search results of the British Newspaper archive (hence the bad optical character recognition!)

Bath Chronicle and Weekly Gazette - Thursday 24 )ct 1850
"...urch, Bath, by the Rev. L. Thomas. John Esq son of the late Rev. James Buckley, of dig ye O V, Ltoehy! Carmarthenshire, to Elizabeth second daughter B. Lidiard. Esq.. of Norfolk-crescent, j**} ult., "

Elizabeth and her family were living at Norfolk Crescent in 1841

In 1861 there is a marriage between Elizabeth Buckley and James Wilson. From censuses, John Wilson, who married Edith Lidiard, and his siblings, all predate this marriage, but certainly suggests Edith married her step cousin. It would also explain how a schoolmistress from Lancashire met her spouse, an architect from Somerset

I cannot however find John & Elizabeth Buckley on 1851 or 1861 or James Wilson on 1861 (have found some of his children with relatives)
