Are they worth the effort? My issue is that they look flimsy and would just blow over when you aren't around. What are peoples experience of them?

I got 2 years out of mine Swedboy...may have got more if my boys hadn't kicked a footie at full pelt through it!
The cover folds under a bit at the bottom and I weighted it down with grow bags. Wind was never a problem but in the snow the roof will cave in under the weight and the roof poles can get a bit buckled.
It did me well for 2 years and I will get another one til my garden is no longer a footie pitch then we'll get a glass greenhouse.

    Hi Swedeboy,

Your're right they are not particularly strong. I think the smaller, 2 tier ones are ok, but anything taller than that, certainly gets a battering in the wind. I lost a 4 tier one, a couple of years ago, as it got wind battered and buckled. But whilst we're saving my proper greenhouse, I have just got a 3 tier, walk in one. Luckily I have a very handy man about the house, who has dug it into the earth and bit, tied down with guy ropes and drilled little metal plates over the poles that run along the ground, to secure it to the old door it's sitting on. So it aint goin nowhere now! I think if you can find a fairly secluded space for it, and are prepared to be a bit innovative in securing it, it'll do the job.

    Good luck

Sounds like it might be worth the money then. I'd love to have I green house but don't have the space. The small wooden houses you see look quite tempting too but they are quite pricey.

What do I think of them - a utter waste of time but people still buy them. My neighbour has bought 2 at a combined cost of £300. Oh, not those wilko's plastic over a set of shelves type. Noooooo. These were a sheet of plastic over a walk in tent frame - the poor man's polytunnel !!!

Lost both in less then a year !! lol

Absolute utter waste of time, and yes, she could have bought a greenhouse with the same amount of money....which in the end she did !!!!

I rather go to the timber yard and glass merchants and build myself a solid coldframe, which I can heat with the smallest parasene heater - which I do !!!

just my opinion on the subject - happy gardening ppl ! smiley - smiley

As with anything it depends on how you care for it.

Got a 4 tier mini greenhouse (£9.99) thats into its 3rd year. i may replace the cover next year or just buy a new one since they're still a tenner and use the shelves to provide some elevation for pots.
Its kept against the wall (weighted or tied in) for the growing season and stored in the shed for winter.

Can be tricky relating the temp at first but with a thermometer on the top tier and little practice its easy enough to regulate the temp to a nice 18-25'c band during the day.

Has proven very useful in my small (very small on GW scale) northern garden.
