Can anyone suggest any tallish grass, other than Miscanthus Zebrinus, as I already have that (say about 3 feet with an upright habit) where the grass height is the actual grass itself and not the height of the seedheads. I,ve been caught out several times thinking the height given, was the height of the grass, but was in fact the ultimate height of the seedheads.
Hope that makes sense. Cheers
Stipa gigantea is a beautiful tall grass

We have a large collection of Grasses of different varieties. The Chinese Miscanthus variety has much more to offer than just the "Zebra Grass" such as varieties with long green strap shaped leaves with yellow variagation along the edges and many others. They are beautiful in mid and late summer into autumn.
Look for "Stipa", a 2-3 foot grass of different colours and seed head displays. There are dozens of types of ornamental grasses and we are lucky in North Cheshire that we have many nurseries who have collections of Grasses, Hostas, Ferns (of many varieties in colour and shapes you will not have seen before).
Where do you live? If it is `down south`, look in Yellow pages for specific nurseries, if however you live in the "Civilised North" I can give you the names of the specialist nurseries I go to.
