Hello,
last year I grew Rudbeckia goldstrum from seed and I got a lovely display of flowers. Im just wondering should I divide the "clump" ? I was having a look at it in the garden today and there is no new growth coming through. Should I wait until new growth comes thru before dividing it?
I was looking on RHS website and it says to divide in the spring.
P.S Live in the Outer Hebrides so we are a good few weeks behind growth than the mainland, saying that we did get 16 degrees today!! Hurrah!
Thanks for any advice
Miss Bateman
Definitely wait until you see signs of growth. This plant can be slow to get going in spring so give it a bit of time yet.
If it's only a year old, it's still young and you might be best to leave it alone for this year to bulk up - you'll get much more from it if you divide it when two or three years old.

Thank you for your reply and advice, I will follow that.
