I have an established willow tree (18 inches diameter) approximately 20 feet from the house. Should I have it removed because of the impending drought?
I would advise not to be too hasty, I'm in no way an expert but I thought that willows have very long roots.
If it's established I would have thought that the roots go a long way into the ground to find water.
Others on here may give you more advice, but I would wait & see............April showers ................maybe
At that size the tree will have done any damage that it was going to long ago. If you were to remove it you would likely cause damage to your house because the roots would shrink and collapse, causing subsidence.
So, as the previous poster says, leave it be.
