I have to say that I find the granular weed and feed a nuisance as there are so many conditions around its use (no wind, no rain in the last day, no frost, but you need rain in the next 3 days, don't walk on lawn until rained in). furthermore i worry about the cat walking on ti and then licking his paws
One year I had to water it in by hose (which can't be done now in some parts of the country) but I didn't wet it enough and ended up with scorched footprint marks marks. So I wondered if the liquid wedd/feeds would be better?
I don't really know what lawn sand is, but wonder if it kills moss but not weeds; do you have the same problems of watering in and footprints if using lawn sa

I use granular weed and feed. There are two types, spring feed, which encourages leaf growth to cover up the ravages of winter and moss, and contains weedkiller, and an autumn type, that contains a different blend of fertilizers to encourage strong root growth, and some moss killer. I have one of those roll along applicators, which helps ensure an even spread. Even if applying by hand I would be able to see where I had scattered it. I can't imagine how I could ensure an even spread with a watering can. I'd miss some areas and overfeed others. The result would be pretty evident within a week, as the treated area would be a lot greener, making the lawn look like a patchwork of colours. I have never bothered about wind as the applicator is at ground level. But as for rain, I just keep an eye on the weather forecast and pick my moment.
Lawn sand is just very fine beach sand lixed with ferrous sulphate, which is a mosskiller. It also has the effect of greening up the lawn. The sand is just a carrier to help you distribute the ferrous sulphate. Unlike Weed and Feed, it does not contain any weedkiller nor a balanced fertilizer mix. You can get ferrous sulphate in soluble form, but I don't like it for two reasons. First of all I tend to use a lot more of it compared with lawn sand. Secondly it stains paving badly, and the stains are long lasting and not cleanable without special chemicals. On a couple of occasions I spilt some when filling the watering can, and the flagstones have been rather disfigured.
