I have just looked out of my window in London NW7 and seen 9 green parakeets
apparently eating the blossoms on my neighbours flowering cherry tree. I am concerned that, in due course, my own apple, plum, damson and nectarine trees will be attract their attention. Is my concern justified and is there any remedy apart from netting that anyone can suggest. My garden is too near a public highway to shoot them and who knows how many agencies and individuals would descend on me if I did.

I quite like the idea of parrakeet's in the garden probably because I haven't got any -have heard it has become a problem-found this and wonder what happened next if anything at all?

I also have visits from these pretty green birds - always the same two I think - and I used to think they were lovely and their conversations quite funny. But I've changed my mind not because they eat lots of the food I put out for the native birds, but because their squawk is just that, a squawk, and I much prefer the songs of blackbirds, robins, blue tits, chaffinches, etc. There's a smallish colony very near my home and there's open space combined with lots of private gardens so they've got it made. At the moment!
