Hi,
I live in a very windy spot in chilly Aberdeenshire. There are quite a few wire fences in my garden that I'd like to brighten up with some cheery plant cover.
However, I've lost track of how many supposedly hardy climbing plants have very quickly died from wind-burn when I've tried to train them up the fences.
Can anyone recommend some plants, climbers or similar, that will stand up to the wind and won't die within a fortnight?!
Thanks,
Anna
You have a near-impossible situation there. You might find that things grow better if you pin some windbreak netting to the fences and then plant in front of them, rather than trying to grow on the wire.

Try an Akebia. I have one growing against a fence and my garden gets a lot of high winds and frost. I am in Lancashire. It may be too cold up there but why not try?
