can anyone advise on preventing carrot fly . have just put in some seeds yesterday in flat rows
thanks
Fine mesh covering. That's about all you can do. Cheers, Tony.
I only grow carrots in raised containers so the carrot fly don't find them.
Like Koala girl I also grow mine in containers. Some people say carrot flies cannot fly above 2ft but when you look at other blogs, that's clearly not the case. I grow the short stubby varieties in MPC in old washing up bowls(with holes drilled in bottom) and these can be easily moved to sit on top of anything.i.e mine are on top of some big lidded plastic storage containers where I keep all my plantpots. This is my 3rd year of growing them this way and it works for me, but maybe I've just been lucky. In fact tonight we had the last of my carrots for tea. Lovely, from pulling to plate in less than an hour, very tasty
