hi, i have just bought a starter pack for tomatoes, there is 3 pots 25 seeds and a little bag of compost, my question is, do i spread all the seeds between the 3 pots or shall i use a few more of my own pots and spread them more, i always thought one seed was one plant. thanks. by the way the toms are called garden pearl.
lynne-
It depends on how many tomato plant you want-do you need 25?
My recommendation is to sow a few- perhaps 3/4 per pot-that way you will end up with 8/10 seedlings-they have quite good germination results so you may find they all come up.
In a few weeks time they will need moving into individual pots-a word of warning unless these are for greenhouse growing don' sow just yet-it is a bit too early for sowing outdoor tomato plants just yet- even for Liverpool!!
thank you the dogcody, again ha ha, where would i be without you, i wont be putting them out yet i have a nice sunny window sill in my spare bedroom.
lynne-
are you going to grow them in the garden or green house?
lynne - this might be useful

hi, im going to grow them in the garden in a grow bag when they are ready to go out
thanks for the link pam
lynne-
delay sowing until the end of March at the earliest.
Garden pearl is a plant that hangs over, so I`d stand the grow bag on a couple of bricks, for a bit of height, so the fruits don`t touch the ground.
