I have a big pot with agapanthus in it. Last year they were fantastic but the plant is really much too big for the pot.
I have read that the best results are achieved with potbound plants that are not fed at all and this was certainly correct last summer for me but I would dearly like to split this clump up ito 4 smaller ones.
Should I do it and when should I do it?
Advice please!!
You have in a way answered your own question-if you are going to divide it now is probably a good time but really into as small as possible pots-make them struggle and they will reward you
Agree with TDC. Do it, but keep the pots as small as possible. They may not flower this year, but I've had a similar problem in the past & 1 new pot did & t'other didnt, so not guarenteed.
I'd also wait a bit until warmer weather, unless your pot is inside at the mo. J.
Thanks, I will try and use small pots
