Hello everyone,
i was wondering if anyone could help me out with a few questions i have with my Fritillaria Imperialis which i planted in late november,
i planted 2 bulbs in my garden border with some irises and alliums, the iris and alliums have started to grow but theres no sign of the Fritillaria Imperialis?
i heard they take time to establish their roots but surely if theyre expected to flower in march/april i should see some sort of growth? or am i being to much of an enthusiast?
it is all new to me as im a new gardener, i just hope the bulbs have not rotted as i made sure they had adequate drainage,
i hope someone can answer my question as i would love to see them flower in spring

If you want to see them in all their glory (and don't live too far from Wiltshire) there is a house open to the public in Holt (near Melksham) called "The Courts" and they have whole vistas of the flowers for all to see. Cheers, Tony.
I bought two Crown Imperials for first time in November as well, and planted them in large pots surrouded by Tete-a-Tete daffs. The daffs are only just breaking thru surface but no sign of the Crown Imperials yet. I read that they dont flower until May /June, so maybe a bit early.
Give them a chance - they grow very fast once they've started, so it's not too late for them yet.
Indeed a bit early yet, give them time, they will suddenly leap through when you are not looking!! Looking for flowers in March - April may be a bit hopeful, depending where you live - later April to May, and some even into June. Wait, that's the essence of gardening, they will be stunning when they come through.
My MIL's neighbours have lots of them in the front garden, next to her drive and front door, and they don't half pong for a couple of months in summer!
I planted one last year and that flowered in May June I think. The advise I have heard is to plant them on the side so they don't rot. When they start growing they do it very fast.
Has yours shown yet? Mine has just exploded out of the ground out of nowhere. I could swear that it was not above ground a couple of days ago.
Still no sign yet. Mine are in pots under kitchen window. I planted mine on their side in a large terracota container.
