Just to cheer us all up, I squashed my first lily beetle of the season yesterday...
I sqashed 5 yesterday and I only have one lily which was dug up by the dog this morning!!!
Problem sorted then?
Where are you seeing them?
Well it appeared in a trug as I was digging over a bed.
Figrat
Have you been hibernating?
On the southern edge of Dartmoor.
Are they near lilies, as I have not checked mine yet, need to check for weevil grubs too.
My little pest nowhere near lilies, don't know where it had been lurking. On the brighter side, have noticed loads of ladybirds around - and no, it wasn't mistaken identity!
Dogcody - yes have been in hibernation!
Oh no!!!!!! I've just found vine weevil in my lilies today & I have to be on the look out for these little blighters now too.
Kate - it was near a clumpf of Damascus, which I've just found out is a member of the lily family.

I will keep my eyes open for the disgusting creatures.
figrat we are in "December in your garden" if you want to give us an update on your gardening.
Or lack of it!
You must be blinking at the sunlight-we shall expect a full report on your reasons for absence.
Don't be a stranger
I had terrible problems (Surrey) last year, I removed them by hand but always missed some.
Last year I applied 1 application of Provado as soon as the first blighter appeared.
I had no more trouble with them and had some lovely lilies !
Try that if you're in despair !
Chris
I grow Camassias & they havent been attacked by the red devils. Famous last words?
Have abandoned lilies in pots because of the beetles, but find that plants in a mixed border seem to have fewer problems. My frittilaries though........ J.
