Hi, a local GC is closing down and I made some impulse buys! One of them was a Leucothoe 'Rainbow' - it looked an interesting plant with good coloured leaves...however when I got home and looked it up it was described in my RHS book as a plant coming from woodland, thickets, swamps and streambanks in N and S America etc. What I want to know is, is it a thug? Do I have to be careful where I plant it? Any advice would be helpful, thanks
It`s not a thug at all, and it actually likes shade, which is very useful in some gardens. It also likes its soil on the acid side, and spongey, with plenty of leaf mould.
Thanks - I have a shady place for it beside my pond but I was worried that the plant and its roots might cause a problem. Thanks for the reassurance.
