Recommendations as to where I get the stinkyest sweet peas for next year, I'de also like to move away from the insipid pastel shades. I did hear of a strongly coloured pea called Wiltshire ripple? Cheers, Tony/

Matucana and Cupani are both very old, strongly scented varieties.

..........they also have good strong basically purple colouration, but do have smaller flowers than the more modern hybrids.

Several sweet pea specialists sell seeds which are especially perfumed, the flowers on the whole do tend to be rather pale and pastel like, but I am sure there will be some stronger colours there for you. Good to go to a specialist grower, as with any plants, as they know really what you are buying and you usually get good value for money. Often general growers jsut do not have the speialist information you need, just vast quantites without quite so much concern about quality or habit.

Cupani is my favourite, fills the house with perfume from just a small bunch --- yummy.
