    Bonjour everyone,

A wedding in St Austell in Feb (yes February!) gives us (and the French side of the family) the opportunity to visit the Eden Project and the "Lost Gardens". Can anyone advise if this is an opportunity not to miss, or will we be disappointed?

Many thanks for any comments L

I greatly enjoyed my visits to both - although I must confess we did not go in February, perhaps someone who lives nearer and makes more visits can advise you. Good luck. Nan x

    Hi

I've been to the Eden Project and Heligan in late November before now - Heligan looked rather battered but was still interesting, but much more 'outdoors' than the Eden Project on a beautiful February day I think it would be lovely, but probably less worthwhile on a dull or rainy one! But I would recommend the Eden Project at any time of year - they'll probably have a display of very early flowering bulbs, I would think - but a big part of the Eden Project is the biomes, and they're not affected by the weather outside...

    Hope that helps,
    Margi x

Two nights ago, Tuesday there was a programme on Quest (freeview 38) about the Eden Project.
Over in Houston (USA) they are going to cover the whole city with a biodome. It was a very good programme.

Both places are not to be missed, but as was said Heligan wouldnt be so good if it were raining, as you need to be able to walk around the whole area.
The Eden project will be OK in any weather . It certainly shouldnt disappoint.

It might be worth considering a westward adventure, as the further you go towards the Atlantic the milder the climate. Trengwaiton (Penzance) opened this year on the 13th February so possibly will do again next year. Also with a 15 minute helicopter trip you will be on the Isles of Scilly where the daffodils will be in full bloom along with many exotics in the Tresco Abbey Gardens.

Many thanks for all your comments,

Unfortunately it will probably have to be one or the other on this occasion so it looks like the Biomes will get the vote especially as in the group there will be several who only have a passing interest in gardens. I might be able to escape on my own to see Heligan, but further afield to Penzance is unlikely, sadly.

Thanks again, I'm off to sample the first sweetcorn of the year YUM! L

We went in mid September and spent a day at each, we would have stayed longer but they threw us out so they could close. They are not to be missed and there is some thing wonderful to see at all times of the year.
