Hi all, I was wondering if anyone new to the gardening has tried planting veg and flowers in the same beds?
If you dont have a huge garden you can plant both veg and flowers in the same beds and they do tend to live together happy, infact rather than leave space in your borders the likes of beetroot look and grow very well,
some plants even help stop the likes of couch grass from growing, Im talking about the common tomatoe plant, not only will you still get good toms but if couch grass is a problem? by planting tomatoes near to the couch in 4 months time you'll not see the couch as a chemicle in the build up of the tomatoe kills the couch,
Ive all sorts of veg growing away in the verious border's and ive done this for years, from my old allotment days,
Give it some thought.
Google Alys Fowler and Joy Larkcom for true inspiration.

Well punpun I never knew that about tomato plants killing couch grass! I have a few spare toms and a patch of couch grass so will give it a try!
Like you I have flowers amongst the vegs, its the done thing here in France and encourages the bees and a good supply of flowers to cut.
Cooler today but some sunshine.
