    Hi All,
    weather here (france dept 23) to day has been sunny warm and a little wind,
    Ive been "well when i say i what i mean is we (her indoors and me) have been rotovating the new wild flower bed in the orchard, i bought two bags of wild flower seeds for this job and the idea being is that near the edge of the orchard is a bit of a thing to cut the grass as the apple trees all hang over and if you dont get hit by over hanging branches you get bombed by falling apples,
    Also ive been reading about getting the butterfly's and bee's in the garden, "hence the wild flower border;

    This border once it takes off is just left until the end of the season and then it's cut down and tilled, the plants all re-seed every year and so the cycle goes on.

    It takes a few years for all the flowers to come to bloom, so It'll be interesting to see how this one turns out.

    The other job completed today was the trimming of the wisteria,
    by giving a trim now, the chances are i'll get a late second flowering period around september time,
    But a more important thing to think about is to not let this climber go into gutters or under roof tiles/slates etc, the wisteria can cause big problems if it's not kept in check.

    Well i'll be honest im all for an early night tonight but having said this ive had a great day and its cost me two bags of seed and thats it.

    Be good & enjoy your garden,
    Regards Punpun

    Hi punpun, just read your posting re Wisteria pruning. We also have a huge wisteria covering a barn wall and this flowered a few weeks ago (early this year) how to prune is the question, never know how far back to cut. Help!

    Hi Grajean,
    ASs your wisteria is well grown and not a new planted one you prune twice a year, ie mid-winter & summer,the summer prune is done two months after flowering,

    You cut back to within two or three buds of the l
    base, in other words your removing all that thin dangling stems,

    But remember this plant can get under tiles/slates and over and in gutters, if this happens it can really be a problem to remove without damage to the above .
    Regards, Punpun
