    Hi
I'm new on this board so hello to everyone. I have aparticular bit of our garden that I ned to find a good plant for. We lost a golden type acer that was there last winter. It had been growing quite nicely for about 4 years but the chill has killed it off. So I was wondering if anyone could suggest a replacement. It is at the opposite side of the path to a good sized pampas grass so I don't want anything to wide, upright is better. Flowering would be nice for a change and preferrable above 3 feet in height. It was getting quite a bit of wind too but there's a new fence been put up a one side of the garden so hopefully won't be as exposed as previously. Our soil is a good loam with a medium PH level.

    Any advice would be great.

    thanks
    Lyn

    Hi Lynx 2009,
Let me be the first to welcome you to the forum,
Ref you asking about something to replace your acer,

A very good hardy but one that has colour all year round is the PHOTINIA,

you can have this as a hedge or as a single bush and it will always have a nice red colour all summer and this changes to green in the winter,

Ive both a hedge around the pool made of this bush and twi individual ones in different parts of the garden.

Hope this may give you an idea or two.
    Regards Punpun
