    Hi All,
Well it's Friday , And all the bank holiday "rain and traffic jam "lovers will be finishing work early so they can all meet in the jams along the way!

I hope you've taken your rain gear with you?

Yes unles things have changed since i lived in the uk, a sure way to stay happy during bank holiday time was to get out in the garden, "It was the allotment then"

As the members would arrive and start to open their sheds up the same sort of remarks would fly around the place,

"She's gone to her mothers, Or she thinks im having it off with someone!

Or those b_ _ _ _ y slugs have been here again "I'll kill them if i get my hands on the little b- - - ers,

And the one that said it all,
See franks off to the caravan again! she's got him right under her thumb, it's no wonder his toms are red ! It's called mirror reflection off his face when he returns and say's Ive told her who's boss in our house!

Yes day's long gone but the thoughts are still here, And of cause it's so costly this motoring lark,
I wonder if the motorways and north wales coast roads are still jammed packed,

I know having lived in wales for many years the council always tried to help every bank holiday by having road works every few miles.

When i think about all those little welsh villages and towns that never even bothered to hang a few baskets up to make the places look welcome! "i could cry"
I see so many out of the way hamlets and little villages that time has forgotten here in france due to the modern ways of life taking both the children off to the big city when they're of working age and the big supermarkets offering cut price "but" cost a lot foods,
Its no wonder the out of the way places are only for the die hards and older folk, but they still even as i write this, have window box plants hanging baskets, even just a low wall with pots of geraniums sitting there like they've been there every summer even when the kids we'er kids.

It's some of the french idea's i see now daily but still come home as a good idea,

Take the window's, here all the window's open inside, so cleaning them is a task everyone can do without ladders or employing a visual-technition (window cleaner to you and i)

And every older and the newer house's come to think of it, have the outside shutters mounted on the window frames,
I see one old lady most times i go to the local shops and she's got her post box fixed on the outside of her shutter so when she's in her home and the postman calls she just opens her window while the shutters closed and gets her mail without even opening the shutters,
And when it's boiling hot the shutters stay closed to keep the house cool inside.

Ive no doubt that flowers, hanging from lamp post or pots on little walls add something to an area, and my hat gose off to the people who keep this tradition going for the sake of having pride in their homes and villages and they dont get paid to do it.

Now do you know if you've any birds nesting in your garden?
I found one pair at the top of a wire frame the honeysuckel's growing up, they"re right on the top, So when i water i'll have to make sure i dont water their nest,

Well the weather people got it wrong for here today,
They said sunny all week, (It pourd down here this afternoon) I was glad because the garden needed it.

Well let us know your plans for the bank holiday?

    Regards Punpun.

This thread is in Dylan Thomas territory, Under Milkwood is the work of a genius. However would we like to be one of the characters or the man himself? Something folk should contemplate with the problems of alcoholism in young people these days. I knew a plastic surgeon and assumed he worked in cosmetic surgery for beauty. It turned out he worked with dentists patching up peoples mouths (often of the young) after cancer surgery, apparently drinking neat spirits is a cause.

Oddly enough my mother was friends with the sister of Mrs Pugh in the dramatisation of UM, they actually were Mr Mrs Pugh playing Mr Mrs Pugh! Some years ago I met I think, Andrew Sinclair at a Blackwells event who was much to do with the production.

On the allotments it is war between plot 12 and 14, it has been a long running feud of which the only words are
    "I hate her"
It is warm dry weather people become more obvious and trouble starts. There has even been tit for tat battles between 17and 18A,

Thank heavens for a change in the weather, back to Dylan Thomas - here is a Chelsea Show garden in his remembrance.
