This is my first attempt at growing a Camelia. I think I have deliberately avoided them because I know they don't like my chalky soil and I have heard that they can be a bit difficult to look after, so I was hoping that someone could give me some expert advice on things such as pot positioning , food requirements etc. It seems like a very young plant (no flowers) and was bought very cheaply with no instructions. I am aware that it will need ericaceous compost but that is about all I know. Any help would be gratefully received.

Apologies, I meant to post this to the Garden Clinic and don't know how to move it!

mine has been in a pot for over ten years, many flowers every spring. ericaceous compost , mixed with top soil . compost on its own dries out far too quickly , so the top soil mix helps keep moisture. camelias hate drying out , especially when forming flower buds. position your plant so that it gets some sun but not first thing in the morning, that will ruin your flowers. i water mine with pond water- not from my very chalky tap water.
