    Hi all,
Well for those of us who wouldnt dream of joining the bank holiday traffic jams/
or driving for miles behind the caravan with the sticker in the back window
    "Mother-in-law left at home"
We can enjoy this nice hot spell in the weather and all it brings?

Im talking about keeping an eye open for the verious unwanted and un invited bugs etc,
Ive found two early unwanted's today one inside the greenhouse "Wasp" making their nest in the corner of the roof,

A quick flick with a cane was enough to destroy the very new start of a cone shape nest.

But the second find really was an early one, "greenfly" on the climbing rose arch, the roses have not opened yet and today i found these insects crawling all over them,

Last year i had non on these very same plants 'yet because of the early hot spell ive had to spray.

When i was a little boy Sunday's always seemed like a longer day some how,
And they seemed tobe a quiet day,
Well this morning around 7am we had a much welcomed shower (it was needed after feeding the lawn early on in the week)

By 10am the light shower had gone and the sun came out and the grass was dry by 12 noon, but again the place seemed very still and the smell of the meat being cooked filled the kitchen and it really did remind me of those sundays as a kid.

The walk around the orchard and the pear trees only put in 4 years ago have lots of blossom on them as have the apples and cherry tree's

Im hoping to have a good (infact first) crop of pears from these 4 trees i planted, we have a good stock of bottled all kinds of fruit but no pears as we didnt have any when we moved to this house.

The point im trying to make is this for the cost now of fruit trees and bushes and all the future crop you get back once the fruits are producing is well worth the initial lay out money wise,

I know a lot of the advise is to plant trees in the latter part of the year when the trees sap is low !

But ive found over the years that if you buy container grown fruit trees with the roots showing through the bottom of the pots and you preper your ground with good drainage and manure etc, the trees settle down better in these conditions rather than the winter ones and by the time winter gets a grip your trees have been in the ground 6 month and the roots have grown.

I planted all my fruit trees during april.may time and they've all taken with no problems, (but keep watering them)

So if you've space and you want good fresh fruit in the future have a thought about what ive said, it's money well spent and if you bottle /or use along with other garden produce you can make jams/chutneys /pies for the freezer to enjoy anytime you feel you'd like to use them.

Nothing better than going to your store area out of season and collecting a jar of chutney or bottled fruit .

    Regards Punpun.
