    Hi all,
Well again snow is the talking point for us gardeners and here in this dept in france the snow's been on and off all day and as i write this thread it's about 6 inch outside on the ground,

    But just because it's not good outside gardening weather there is still lots to do to help the garden grow later in the better weather times yet to come;

Im talking about inside projects, the tools that need sharpening and cleaning, the wooden shafts on spades/forks/rakes etc that will last longer if they're cleaned and oiled (lindseed oil)
the machines that can be serviced or put in the garden tool service shops for sharpening (if you cant do it your self) by getting these machines in the service shop early you should have them back and ready for the start of the season.in good time and not caught out by waiting until the last minute.

I myself have spent the day making a few bird nesting houses, they really are a simple project, i made two today "out of wood" and one out of an old clay flower-pot mounted onto a piece of wood and held onto this wood via 4x screws & two pieces of cross picture frame wire,
the hole is already there via the bottom drainage hole,
The birds love this simple bird house because it's weather protected/warm and you can put it on a wall ready for use.

When the weather is like it's been today and forcast to be the same for the next few weeks i find nothing better than being in the workshop, "radio on"
a good warm jumper and the project in mind coming to life?

It's surprising how many good radio programs are on during the day ie the money program and of cause gardeners world, the day slips by and its a nice feeling to have some of the tools etc sorted and ready in good time for when they'll next be used.

So dont let the weather get you down,

You sound like you got it sorted punpun -Unfortunately I have to work and so put gardening on hold for a while but I'm planing for next year, and i'm going to make some winter gardlands next week, so thats gardening.

I love listening to the radio - don't forget the archers and the afternoon play, which can be a real hoot. It so relaxing.

Good idea about the old clay pot bird-house, punpun. I must try that. Thanks.

I think our problem in the UK is the other 24" + inches on top of the 6" inch you have got, makes it a little bit more difficult.
It was -12c her last night and not much past -10c this morning so its a bit cold to be in the buildings.
I cannot get in two of the greenhouses as the double doors are frozen solid
The weight of the snow has split one of my tunnel covers down one of the spines. Make you wonder why I want to move to France.............................

    Hi Rowan cottage
Ahh we're catching you up, we had a further 6 inch last night and today,
I dont know if i told you but we have a bit of a shortage of childre around here,
most of the people are old in age but not in mind,

Let me explain, when i took the dog for the walkies this morning it was that dusting of snow "like icing sugar on a cake" As we walked along the track that leads into a woods we could see a deer just trying to eat bits of grass that was sticking out of the bank, and it was then i could see my nearest neighbour (in his 80's) had been out yesterday afternoon and built a snow man!

what about that then? (I know his eye sight is going because he'd put the carrot in the wrong place ? ( a bit to low down for a nose)
