Camellia sansanqua

    I am very pleased with autumn flowering camellia, which I have been grown for some years. With the dry early summer my rain water butts ran dry so decided to try a sachet of sequestrene compound from the garden centre. The truth is I had used them last year on some pots of camellias in a friends garden that were looking dreadful. Within a season they were looking good, I also dilute some ericaceous feed into the water too, a couple of times a year.

    Yes, there are named forms but none on my label (Notcutts), someone clearly selected the raspberry blush. They grow in the shade that is also what is so convenient.

    1st post is a bit dysfunctional this is how it should have read...

    I love sasanquas! My father has two, a double white and a single pink (I think). About 40 years old and about 3 metres high ( pruned to that height)

    I'll try and persuade him to send me some photo's (he has them I know).
    They have a quite distinctive perfume which seems to hint at their relationship to the tea varieties....
