How do I plant these? Just spread them around and rake over a thin layer of soil? I got them from my mother summerhouse in Sweden and would love to have them in the garden.

Try both methods just in case, broadcast a few and scatter a few in a seed tray then you have both bases covered. Sorry about the Americanism. Both wickets covered. Cheers, Tony.
Ok. Thanks.
please remember that they might not germinate until spring... (i was hoping for mine to start growing but looks like i will have to wait )

primrose family like to be sown when the seed is still sightly green

leave them in a Sheltered spot outside over winter and you may be luckly next spring
I have another batch that I will sow in spring. I saved about half of them.
Naturally, cowslips self-seed very easily. The seeds fall onto the ground when they are ripe and usually do not germinate until the following spring.
When brown seeds, they need a period of cold to kick-start the germination. The usual method is to sow at this time of year and leave them outside, or fake it in a fridge or even some people in the freezer.
Thanks.
mine are going in the freezer for 2 weeks... was hoping to have nice little plants by spring ...
funny- my primula alpicolas germinated very fast... not so my humble cowslips
