Hi mo. From my garden pics you were wondering what the grass I have potted in front of my greenhouse. Well looking into native Alberta grasses gave me the answer. It is called Great Basin Wild Rye, Giant Rye Grass. Elymus piperi. It's native to my province, British Columbia, and the NW U.S. A long lived perennial, dry land species. It's root system doesn't spread out but goes deep to withstand drought.
Hi John,
Thank you for taking the trouble to find that out for me.Ive been on several plant sites,.... doesnt seem like I shall be able to get that one over here.I can get Elymus Lipidis Blue wheat grass, but as the name suggest its blue. much like one I have already. Ill carry the name with me, so when, on my travels I may come across it. Thanks again, , Mo.
