Like most members i find gardening and wild life go hand in hand and so ive have pets to add to what ive always thought was a perfect way of life,
my garden has flowers growing in all large bordersn a swimming pool, and a lawn that only what i call the back ground to my live picture,
Now i have a good sized orchard "but" for some strange reason on of my smaller plum trees has had the plums going missing,
I just couldnt understand why or how these plums
went.
Until i was doing my (excuse the wording') poop patrol "well when you have dogs it's a job that has to be done"
and it was then i noticed 'pips' in the dogs calling card, Yes the plums have been getting taken by my 12 month old dog.
Is'nt life full of laughs? he looks as if butter wouldnt melt in his mouth.
Hi punpun, I have a rescued Jack Russell and whenever I am eating fruit she just HAS to have some, organges, bananas, apples, plums, pears, apricots, grapes, nectarines, even cherries (pre-stoned of course) are all shared, even when she has chicken in her food bowl. Nan x
Smashing reply,
our dog is also a rescue dog.
I wouldnt be without him he really is the best friend anyone could wish for.
my first job in kennels the dogs had access to a grassed area with apple and pear trees, and some cheries that over hung from the neighbouring orchard, the dogs loved the fruits.
My 2 dogs wait for what ever they can get!
Not gardening but some things you shouldn't feed a dog
Chocolate, Tea/Coffee or other caffeinated products. (caffeine, theobromine, or theophylline, which can cause vomiting and diarrhea and be toxic to the heart and nervous systems.)
Onions/Garlic (Contain sulfoxides and disulfides, which can damage red blood cells and cause anemia.)
Grapes (raisins and currants) (Damage the kidneys.)
We have a rescue dog too, he is a lab cross coli, he loves the garden what ever i am doing he is there, and loves to just soak up the sun.
He is now an old gent about 13 yrs old and has recently decided raiding the bin is a good pass time and made him quite poorly.
The bin is now kept outside!!
He also loves fruit esp apple and pears.
Hi,
My daughter takes in rescue Irish Wolf Hounds, not many people can do that. They are the most wonderful animals ,really gentle, and playful despite their size. She has 2 at the moment, a while ago there were 3, sadly 1 died. They have a shorter life span than a smaller dog, which is sad at times.
The latest one had been mistreated, so is a little shy of showing her trust, but she will come round soon. Mo.
You know sometimes "just sometimes im really pleased ive started a thread off that brings the best out of people and tonight after reading some of these replies to a simple little animal via garden happening thing,
you've all made my day,
Thank you all very much.
