I have large expanse of flagstones that I would like to "soften". I am thinking of planting low, spreading plants in the joints, e.g. creeping jenny. Are there any low growing, aromatic plants that can be recommended.Must be able to withstand walking on and childrens play.
Thyme is pretty tough...
could you take up the odd flagstone, you could then have more options and have low growing aromatic shrubs. another option would be to place pots about the area
Why not take the odd flag stone out here and there and use this vacant space to plant the likes of miniture pansy, night stock has a wonderful perfume "but the children will have to be told not to walk over the plants?
