Help please! I need advice on a reliable, dwarf fruit tree which is happy in a patio container, self-fertile and can cope with being in coastal SW Wales! I know I'm expecting a lot, but I have some present-money and would really like to give it a go! All ideas welcome!
Hi golarne, a type of crab apple would probably fit the bill. Crab apple jelly is delicious. I believe that there are dwarf apples and other fruits as well but have not tried any in pots.
Have fun choosing,
Summer
Or you could try minarette fruit trees. I have 3 types of apple and a Victoria plum all in pots - from Ken Muir online and producing fruit on a windy patio!
Thanks for the ideas! I'd rather have something that I can eat rather than a crab apple. I love the idea of a Victoria plum- didn't know that you could get it in a container-type size. I'll have a look at Ken Muir...

If you provide acid compost you could grow a blueberry. They are very easy to grow yielding a bigger crop each year. Plus they are very good for you (so they say)!
Sounds good. I keep seeing blueberries advertised. Would they grow well close to the sea?
Good question. Never having had the joy of living by the sea, I don't know the answer to that. Perhaps someone else who does live by the sea would???
