hi, does anyone, know where i can get ground cover roses from
Well, my local garden centre sells them, doesn`t yours?
no they dont, have tried wyvales and bq , will try the smaller garden centres , over the weekend
If you can`t get them locally, David Austin Roses sells them. I don`t know if they would be able to deliver them at this time of year though. You`d have to e-mail them I suppose.
If you go onto David Austen's website:
Enter 'ground' in the search box.
It comes up with 24 varieties, which it calls Ground Cover Roses.
Some are repeat flowering, and some are described as being very robust.
Unfortunately, the whole lot are out of stock. Next available in November.
When thinking of ground cover people often think of hardy geraniums. These roses can't work out much more expensive, per square metre covered, possibly less expensive, and are far more stylish.
Peter Beales has also got quite a fancy website:
If you just scroll down the main page, you get to a section in the left-hand panel, 'Select roses suitable for growing', and you can tick 'as ground cover'. As soon as you tick the box, it comes up with 103 roses 'suitable as ground cover'.
Actually the first rose on that list, Alexander Girault, is pictured growing into a tree. Obviously a very versatile rose.
I do like his 'add to wheelbarrow'. Very cool.
You could spend the entire morning playing with Beale's website.
I ordered 2 roses recently from British roses. Very good service and as they sell most potted as well as bare root you can buy them anytime of the year.
They seem to have 22 ground cover roses available, wesite address is:
Just as an aside, ground-cover roses look nice on a rockery, or hanging over a short, stone/brick wall.
hi thank you everybody who replied, will check it all out
