How do you split Wisteria? My daughter bought a house and the Wisteria is crazy.Thought I would split it for her and put it a couple of places in her yard. She also has a lot of bleeding hearts which I just recently split mine into 3-4 plants.
You have to take cuttings in summer, or by a method called "layering" in autumn.
You could look closely at the roots, and if there is an obvious branching out at the root, then you could cut that off, and pot that up. Reduce the green growth to give the newly-potted root time to grow. Keep in a sheltered position, slightly shady, until the roots take hold, and new growth begins.
Thanks for the info!!
