Dear All
In the latest edition of gardeners world Alan Tichmarch has an article on training fruit trees
one of his suggestions is called 'cordon diamond' which involved planting cordon fruit trees against a wall, inclined, and cordons crossing over each other to form a diamond pattern. He says that correct planting and spacing is vital but doesn't actually say how to go about planting the cordons or what distance apart etc to get this effect.
I would really appreciate your thoughts on how to go about this as I want to plant some cordons against a wall an I think this idea could look really pretty.
many thanks

Have a look at this advice on planting and pruning -
many thanks for the link
I was after info on how to achieve the diamond effect, the magazine talks about planting alternate trees and crossing them over, and also says correct distance and tying in is vital, but it fails to explain what the correct distance and tying in should be !
