hi!
Weve had an allotment for for seven months now and want to put in a few raised beds but are unsure exactly what soil to use to fill the beds up. Do we buy top soil or multi purpose compost. we would appreciate any replys

The disadvantage of buying in compost and soil is that it is expensive, heavy, time consuming and you do not know from the source - so what it contains. Best to try and build the raised beds using you the existing soil by excavating the paths so you have the soil for the beds, which can then be enriched with garden compost/farmyard-manure or whatever you feel to be good for your soil.
