    Hi
I've just invested in a half (actually more like 1/3) wooden barrel to create a container pond for my patio. It's a 24" width barrel, and I'd reckon 18" - 24" deep. So fare I have a pygmy water lily, one oxygenating plant and a small water iris in situ. These are all small and not yet esablished plants, but I'd be interested to hear opinions about how much I can safely plant without restricting room/growth. Also, are a couple of goldfish a goer? The volume is far more than my indoor fish tank which accomodates 3 small goldfish quite happily. Would they be OK in the heat of summer (assuming the plants provide some cover) and cold of winter?
    Thanks

    Statto

    hi

Apparently fish need to be in at least 2ft of water to survive real heat and real cold. I have a container pond sunk on my allotment but this is to attract wildlife and so no fish at all. I dont know about plants as i am off myself to buy some tomorrow in preparation for the frogspawn.
