Good evening all,
Just to say that I have had a great afternoon, pottering in the garden, I have sown seed everywhere in no particular fashion bit of a broadcast i would supose.
I planted another Clem "sunset" 6 heurucheras 3 were ruby bells and the others palace purples potted up some hostas that are just sprouting discoverd another 3 in the ground which are coming to life(now on full snail alert)
Now I do understand that i have created a monster with my seed sowing so will have to invest in a book of weeds so that I know which are which, Can anyone recommend any said publication.

Glad you had a lovely day Sara - I did much the same as you - and would be very interested in a weed book - it would be nice to name them before I dig them up!

Hi Sara! Mmmm it's been lovely today, if fresh! LP and I pottered about in the garden this afternoon - she pulled up grass for our metal chickens (don't ask!) and I did a bit of weeded, checked growth on the clems, generally inspected things! I'm still trying to decide whether to protect some of my more tender plants or not - OH says the temperature is going to go down to -3 tonight, whereas the Beeb say only down to 1 degree. I'm in a quandry!!!
Hi Plocket, my plans are for 1c tonight, if that's any use.
Thank you David - that's very helpful.
It has been lovely after a very fresh start. Had intended to do some work in my garden this pm but had forgotten daughters hair appointment & she was waiting for me to take her (& pay of course). Was surprised to see some morning glory seeds I had planted on Monday had germinated already. Perhaps I'll get a bit done tomorrow.
It's been a beautiful day here in the Cotswolds, it went down to -4 last night so very fresh this morning. I've been at work today planting out some sweetpeas, weeding and started to cut down all the old seed heads from the prairie style planting in the fruit ave. The boys were all mowing and strimming(I love the smell of fresh cut grass) so I spent the day working with only the company of robins waiting for a quick meal.
It's been a beautiful day here in Suffolk today too. So nice, in fact, that I left work early to come home and mow the lawns. They look so much better now they've had their first trim of the year but I can't believe they haven't needed it until now. I even had the mower on the lowest cutting height and still only got ½ a grass box off them combined. I also bought a couple of large bags of horse manure for my front borders but haven't had time to dig any of it in yet.
Cheers

Forgot to say that it's clear here at the mo and the forecast is for a frost so I've covered my camellia over again to protect it.
