Have gardened this plot for 40years, its three quarters of an acre, and i am 78yrs old, Spring timeits at its best Tulips, blossom trees, fish pond, fruit trees.
A steady walk aroung the garden will delight one with so many plants and a greenhouse full of seedlings, well established fruit tres, plenty of wild life, and a welcome cup of Tea.

Hi Tom. Thanks, but Â鶹Éç coverage of Chelsea was so utterly awful last year I've already bought tickets to go on the Tuesday and see it properly for myself. However, next year I'd be very pleased to have you here.

When the Beeb shows a big cricket/snooker/horse-racing or dog show we do actually get to see the cricket, the snooker the horses and the dogs and the people involved.

During Chelsea we get mindless shots of D list celebrities and lots of babble. What we want is good clear shots of all the gardens and displays with informed comments form the designers, builders and plants people. I don't want Wesley thingummy in a wet suit trying out a water feature 99.9% of us wouldn't consider even if we could afford it and I don't want Jenny Bond gushing about frocks and cushion covers.

Let's have proper interviews and chats between proper garden people - AT, Monty, Chris Beardshaw... and, for example, the RHS about how they select the designs that feature, how the gardens are funded and built and what the plants and combinations are about. Ands then ther's all the interesting nursery and plant people to tell us about how and why they grow their plants.

    I totally agree with Obelixx.

Get new people to host the coverage instead of Diarmuid Gavin all the time and certainly not Sue Barker or Clare Balding

Yep, I'm totally with Obelixx on this one. However, if an interviewer would like a sixty second sound bite from me on why I think the TV coverage is so dire I would be happy to oblige.

What is the point of asking who would like to show their garden through Chelsea. It will end up being a programme for a presenter to spend most of the time talking and a film crew trying to create artistic photography. Virtually nothing will be about the garden and the plants and the reasons why the chosen gardener selected the plants.

Agree 100% and more with Obelix. Chelsea is stuffed full of people who like the sound of their own voice.
It is supposed to be the premier garden show of the year yet how much time is spent on the plants.
We hear lots about the "gardens" and the designers but having seen them in reality they are disappointing. Yet again more people talking and odd camera angles. What about the plant marquees stuffed full of plants that real gardeners want to know about.
Get rid of supposed presenters such as Dairmid Gavin, Wesley Kerr, Charlie Dimmock, and why is that idiot Jenny Bond allowed to waffle on about frocks and minor celebrities. Lets have people who know about plants.

Totally agree with you Obelixx - but just have to add ( as I love dogs as much as I love gardening)that Crufts this year had the same sort of coverage as Chelsea - I saw more of the presenters than I did of the dogs! Perhaps they have the same programmers?

I visited Chelsea last year- loved it so much that Im going again this year.

I also watched everyday (taped when visiting) and thought that the coverage was reasonably good. I think all the presenters are good and i think Chelsea is great!

    Hi
I went to Chelsea for the first time last year (as until then I was teaching and Chelsea is NEVER in the school holidays!!)
I thought it was great - but I was amazed how much larger the show gardens look on TV. Has anyone else noticed this?
I relly thought that they were the "courtyard garden" etc until I looked at their titles - amazing!!
Mind you in the case of DG's garden it was a bit of a bonus !!

Hi everybody, Hope you are having a great easter break in the garden and enjoying the better weather.

I do not really get this request. A random garden for The CHELSEA flower show?

So the content will be celebrities and what they are wearing, the royals, Diaurmid Gavin warbling and a garden that is not at chelsea? Superb!

Keep showing what you want to show beeb!

Never watch the TV coverage - always too busy working theresmiley - biggrin

It's a real shame that it has such a bed reputation based on the TV coverage, it's nothing like that at all. It has many fantastic gardens, the plant marquee is breathtaking and just wandering in the gardens of the Chelsea Hospital is an absolute delight, and the atmosphere is great.

Unfortunately while we have people like Jenny Bond commentating on what people are wearing etc it degrades the whole thing, what use is that woman?

Please don't knock it unless you have actually been, you don't know what you're missing.

Thank goodness someone has had the courage to challenge the Â鶹Éç's coverage of Chelsea.
I totally endorse the comments made by Obelixx.
I'm totally sick of seeing the same few areas time and time again - we should be seeing as many different gardens as possible so that those of us who aren't lucky enough to attend can choose their own favourites at home.
There are plenty of fashion programmes and celebrity ego-greasing programmes - let's keep the coverage of Chelsea pure and factual!
I wonder if the Â鶹Éç will take any notice of these comments? Or will they just continue to produce what they 'think' we want. Perhaps someone could pass the message on!

Will Diamud Gavin be allowed to present a Â鶹Éç program now he has crossed the line into advertising compost? I thought the Â鶹Éç had strict rules....I must say I have had nightmares that someone invites him to my garden when Im away and he turns it into a stainless steel hell on earth! I totally agree about chelsea coverage being an excuse to fill our screens with has and never has beens, wittering on about nothing at all to do with gardening or horticulture, pity really, its a fine opportunity to showcase the real stars..the plants and gardens we switched on to see in the first place!

Hi Dee. I'm going with Dame Wombat and we'd love to visit your stand if you would like to give us a clue where to find you - gardens or plant marquee?
