fencing question

  wondering whose fence is whose ie neighbours who live next door
  we were told as you look at house from front the right fence is ours so we should replace that which we have done so therefore the left should be replaced by the neighbours? the fence on left side in back is rubbish and really needs replacing

  Tricky one this, are you on good terms with the neighbs, I approached the people who live behind me about the state of the fence, it turned out that is was their responsibility and we talked about sharing the cost and labour of replacing it. Then 2 years later I decided they weren't going to do anything and ended up doing it myself, but this enabled me to put up some netting on the top of it to deter their cats using my garden as a hunting ground for birds and their other favourite pastime on freshly dug soil!

  the back of your house;the fence to the right is your neughbours responsibily./to your left is your responsibilitty[asfor the front we have no fences or hedges[check weithyour local cuncil;about theat/get it right;not hearsay/

  Where I live,looking from the front,the left fence is mine.
  You need to get the boundry defined in writing either from the council or from your solicitor if it is a private house.Saves any future rows.

  It's not as easy as 'this is yours and this is theirs' - it might be on your house deeds whose responsibility what is, might be historical (precendents set) and it might be a matter of negotiation... good luck with it anyway!

  If you have a copy of your deeds look along the boundary line for the "T" symbol. If for example say your house is at the bottom of this page and your neighbour is at the top then "T" along the boundary line means it's your responsibility.
  
  If the "T" is on its side like "-l" then you are responsible for the fence on the left and so on. Hope it suits you...to a "T"

  My neighbours fence, (as we looked towards the back of our garden to the left. Confirmed on our title deeds) isn't high enough to give us privacy.
  
  Unlike my Wife & I, our neighbours are not into gardening.
  When i asked if they minded if i placed 2ft trellising along the whole length they said 'yes, that's ok'...Unfortunately they didn't offer to go halves.
  The price you pay i suppose for privacy.

  I am probably too late as I think someone has already mentioned it but it depends on what your deeds say. Unfortunately because of the layout of my garden I am responsible for ALL sides!!
