Just checked the forecast and it looks like spring will finally arrive in time for the return of British Summer Time. Not exactly tropical temperatures, but at least there's no frost - lows of 7-9C forecast so things should finally start to grow!
Fingers crossed. I'm feeling so frustrated I went out and bought some primulas and tête-à -têtes to put in hanging baskets to cheer things up a bit.
I also succumbed to an acer palmatum Beni-Maiko at only €15 for a 3' high plant. Bargain! Sadly, it looks as my original purple leaved acer has got terminal frost bite so I will have to be careful to protect the new one better next winter.
I got very excited when I saw the weather forecast last night - spring arrives on Friday for us with a nice increase in the temp & no nasty wind from the east (snow still forecast for Scotland though!) Was out this morning thinking roll on Friday as it was so cold & then to my surprise there were a few snowflakes falling. Things are moving aren't they, it's just so incredibly slow.
