PS Toadspawn, if you can get onto the Food board there's a rather nice looking recipe from someone else, I think probably in the USA somewhere ... yummy! Good luck with the experimenting, and let me know how you get on...

Margi we're just up the road from TS so you can pop in here first to wear the tornado out, bring her swimming stuff if its warm, 50 lenghts of the pool should quieten her down...works with our little olympic star !! Few hours on the trampoline and she'll be desperate to recouperate at TS with a lie down....

You may get some peace on the remaining journey ..although most children when they get here want to stay forever, there are so many children here its like a holiday camp...

We do B&B in a tent in the garden if you're interested...I used to be a SP with 4 under 6 which was no fun...(well actually it was more fun than being married)

Could I just clarify which recipe Toadspawn was after? I do love anything with ginger.

And for those with sickening partners who can eat anything - I used to be like that but it catches up and suddenly sticks - in my case because of a late pregnancy and then a bad back problem resulting from carrying a 14kilo toddler in a 6kilo plaster cast. No exercise for years after that!

And it does matter about the hips because we have to wear skirts and trousers and shorts depending on the time of year and it helps if they fasten 'cos I'd rtaher be gardening and sowing seeds than sewing new clobber.

    Hi Obelixx

I wanted the Seedling to make gingerbread biscuits for her Grandma for Mothering Sunday, because she's bought herself some alphabet cutters and one of the ideas in the recope book is just to cut the word out of a slab of dough and bake the slab the decorate it (almost a biscuity negative) but the dough didn't work, and I went on A4A Recipes section to ask for a recipe and saw a message a few days ago from Toadspawn asking for exactly the same thing - weird! (Sorry - not very good at dividing things into sentences!)

But we didn't get any answers on R4A, so I went onto the Beeb Food board and got two answers (so far!) both for very different recipes but both looking good...

So, how did you get the link to work? What did you do that I didn't?

HI Supermum. Possum has recently turned 11 but is tall for her age - 158cms - and weighs about 50 kilos as she is fit and muscled from all the swimming and dancing and horse-riding. A new trampoline would have to be sturdy to withstand her plus the inevitable friend doing a twosome.

I've had trouble finding a decent model available here so a make/model would be good if you have one to recommend. Your MIL sounds great.

Now if we were talking about about double strength Ginger Biscuits or even Ginger Brandysnaps (Ginger has superb sailing or travel sickness properties)....I have a biscuity past you know smiley - laugh

Nowadays I have a fledgling travel operation. For 2006 it will mainly run coach holidays to Monmouthshire to visit Toadspawn (with the promise of Welsh cakes to boot) & Supermum. So far I have 47 coaches booked. Unfortunatley they all think they are going to the Millennium Stadium for the FA Cup Final, but I'm sure there will be no hooligan activities (apart from Supermum's brood). smiley - laugh

On a serious note has our GOTY set a date for the NGS and will she have have another for OTGF people? (Translation: Will Supermum let us boarders pop round for a guided tour without millions of "Haven't I seen you on TV" type folk). Not sure how this NGS stuff works...I always seem to be "the day before guinea pig" round here.

You're more very welcome to stop here in a world heritage city on the way to/back Cornwall (5* accom 1* welcome). Actually - you really should stop by. I could show you our local Michelin Starred restaurant (where Obby's bottle wall will be sourced). Then we could go for a bag of chips....

Mrs C has had loads of "internet" visitors from the 'States to stay and despite my initial reluctance they have all been really nice. I'm feeling a bit left out as I only post on this board smiley - sadface

I'm sure we can arrange a private day for everybody...We open for the NGS the first Sunday of the month from May - Sept, although I'm already regretting May with everything so far behind...

We also are opening every Thursday from 11-3pm from now till Sept - but there's not much to see yet.

We have about 5 gardening groups coming in July on evenings and weekends.

So you can just pop round whenever, or arrange a day when some of you would like to come round and meet other boarders...it could be a green wellies and purple hair day.

Anyway Supermum and her family are not very far away if help is required. Supermum - Which bit of Wales are you? North or South? If south could escape for a Thursday afternoon when next visiting the rellies in Worcester. Sounds like a lot of work all those openings. Do you do teas as well or just sell plants? Blimey, how do you keep up with new stock?

Hi Obby! I think you missed a silent "T" in front of wit....

Is this early enough for you? I post at 7.30pm (a bit) and just before closing time as that's when I feed the Baby Brassica. I generally have difficulty earlier as, for example, the last two days I was 3 hours drive away and in the evening I have to "entertain" (last night we sowed more seeds), followed by a spell in my garage doing gardening stuff.

Supermum is less than 50 miles from Worcester (I lived there 1990-92) and all Mway or dual carriageway, so an easy journey. smiley - biggrin

Margi - Caution, "big groan" alert coming up.....Where I live the people are variously described as "a miserable shower", "spongers" and "scrubbers" (only joking), who like their "soaps". The local council is going down the "plug hole" and there's not much "overflow" parking. However, you can "run my tap" anytime, but I'd better not "faucet" or I'll get into "hot water"....

Horticulturally we have a wonderful botanical gardens, a superb National Trust landscape garden and are once again in the final of the small city category of Britain in Bloom. Just a pity there's a small scrap of land (mine) letting the side down.

You are very welcome to ignore/visit/stay on way to/from Cornwall. It's more or less exactly halfway from you to say Penzance. Supermum and Toadspawn are less than a 50 mile detour in total. smiley - biggrin

Depends what sort of thing you're looking for.

We stay on St Agnes, which is the most remote and probably the wildest of the inhabited islands. Not much there apart from one shop, one pub and the sea. Beautiful though.

St Mary's is probably easiest if you want a base to visit the other islands from, and its less traveling as well, because you need to get on another boat from St Mary's to get to the other islands after getting off the ferry/plane

I have family who stay on St Martin's. Its really nice there, and there's a fair sized hotel, so it might be easier to find accommodation there than some of the other places. Again, not a huge amount to see, but there's a couple of art shop/gallery type places and I seem to remember there being a nice jewelry shop. Good beaches on St Martins.

Tresco is probably the most up-market island with quite a posh hotel (by Scillonian standards). There's usually quite a bit going on. Tresco's real high point is the garden, which you should definitely visit wherever you stay.

Can't really tell you much about the other islands, but I'm sure you'll have a great time wherever you go. As long as you go in a sunny week, the climate is incredible- really semi-tropical, but with the sea breeze to freshen it.
