Lots of firsts today:
-My first ever package from Bakker arrived, which happened to be... my first ever tree! (Cherry compact Stella) VERY exciting.
-First day in ages when there was no snow on the ground, it wasn't raining and the ground wasn't frozen, so-
-First time I've ever broken out into a sweat diggng, while digging a new flowerbed for the first time . This resulted in the first time I've ever got mud in my eye
So generally feeling good about all my first attempts. Sorry, had to share. :D
Well Done! and some deep heat for your first ever back ache from digging!

Thanks, a long soak seemed to do the trick, but I might not be saying that tomorrow.
Well done. It's still to cold to garden here though I did spot we got up to +7 this pm so won't be long. I've been stuck inside moving rooms round. Someone from the ministry is coming to check my working environment!
I work part time for OH and they're coming on Friday morning to make sure my workspace etc is up to standard. We'd been planning the move for a while but this brought things to a head so the office has moved to a larger room, 3 bedrooms have changed contents/layout/function and my sewing attic has been cleared and sorted as back up office and filing space too.
Mega, but when it's all finished tomorrow the slate is clear for gardening a few hours a week instead of housework. Yippee!! Now, if someone would just wave a magic wand at the weather organiser............ and get me a cleaner maybe?
Well done for achieving so many firsts, and thank you for sharing - your enthusiasm is wonderful. Here's mud in your eye!!!
TEIR GUARANTEE IS GENUINE.I CAN VOUCH FOR THAT

Good on you Liz!! Us Northern birds have to keep up with the rest of the country
I managed to get into the garden today! I broke up loads of old paving slabs with a sledge hammer and tipped it all into the first of the planting areas. Now all I need is some top soil and plants but that will have to wait until OH has rendered the walls

Hmmmm, not much of a choice LL Something a little more flattering me thinks. How about Smashing Snowdrop, or Gigantus Galanthus!! I must say that OH didn't seem very happy at the sight of me throwing a sledge hammer around! I think he may have been a bit frightened , probably by the fact that I was hoiking it around with gay abandon!! By hook or bl@@dy crook, I shall have some plants in before the month is out, she says pleadingly!
Susie x
Well let's hope you get a couple of 'good weather' weekends then - and leave your plant list where OH can see it - just in case he needs a nudge!

A nudge, more like a bomb!! I'm afraid he has no interest in plants whatsoever, or should that be?! I shall order a couple of tonnes of topsoil, which will have to be moved into the beds, topsoil = plants. I'll probably forget to tell him I've ordered it
Susie x
Isn't it awfully fullfilling when you have had a nice day of hard labour, whether it is planting trees, swinging sledge hammers or moving the contents of rooms and offices?? At least you see what ou have done!
Congrats
Susie-S - careful with that sledge hammer. I missed a post and banged my shin instead once and it was * painful! There's lots of things I "forget" to tell OH so good luck with the top soil.
Lizdurham - yes, your enthusiasm is wonderful. Keep us posted with more such stuff.

Morning Obelixx. Don't worry, I was very careful, especially when I was close to the conservatory.

Susie you're scary
On the subject of the North keeping up, have you been to Alnwick gardens? I get the impression you're quite near there, but I might have got it wrong. Went last May, and I'm looking forward to going again in the summer to see how its coming on.
Annoyingly its snowing today, so can't go back in the garden, but I might plant up some more seed trays if I can find any windowsills to put them on
